SCULPTURE BY ROSETTA

Pewter BFF (Best Feline Friends)

5.5” x 4” x 3”, Unlimited Edition, © 2020, $385

I usually do a small study of a new sculpture to easily be able to make major changes to establish the basic form, pose and flow before I do the sculpture the size I intend to cast in bronze. It is in the larger version that I refine the forms and surface treatment. If it seams feasible, I will often go back to the original “3-D sketch” and refine it to match the larger one and cast it in bronze or pewter. This little (5.5”x4”x3”) pewter “BFF” is such a study, mounted on a solid 3” cube of Travertine stone.

Wolf Relief

Wolf Relief

6” round x ¾” Unlimited Edition, ©2020, $365

Sitting on a black wood base (not attached), this regal, relaxed wolf portrait was created for the 2020 W.O.L.F. Sanctuary fundraiser silent auction and is now available in galleries and other shows.

W.O.L.F. (“Wolves offered Life and Friendship”) Sanctuary in Bellvue, CO is dedicated to “improving the quality of life for wolves and wolf dogs through rescue, sanctuary and education.” They are a wonderful organization I am proud to support, even if I am more of a “cat person”.

Siblings

Siblings

3" x 9" x 7.5" Unlimited Edition, ©2001, $550

This pewter was requested by the Lincoln Park Zoo to use as gifts, since their large "Siblings" sculpture has become somewhat of a symbol for the Zoo.

Ice Bear

Ice Bear

2" x 3" x 2" , Unlimited Edition, ©1998, $150

This small sculpture is based on the left end bear of my three-bear bronze group, "Ice Bears". I felt that his personality was strong enough to hold up without his companions, and he makes wonderful little jewel of a sculpture.

Panther

6" x 5" x 2" Unlimited Edition (numbered), ©1995, $275

This small version of "Panther" is patinaed black and mounted on a wooden base.

Cat Ornament X

5" x 1" x .75" Unlimited Edition, © 2018, $75

Climbing a tree or slinking along the ground, this feline embodies pure flowing motion.

Cat Ornament IX

Cat Ornament IX

4" x 3.7" x .75" Unlimited Edition, © 2017, $75

Of all the cats I’ve been privileged to share my life with over the years, I don’t think any one of them could resist curling up in a box, any box, but especially one that is just barely big enough.

Cat Ornament VIII

3.75" x 3.25" x .25" Unlimited Edition, © 2016, $75

I was inspired to design this pair of kitties simply as a celebration of the graceful curves two such sleeping companions would create.

When it came time to create another ornament a few months after our new kitty, Cameo, arrived in our family, I couldn’t resist doing a cameo style sculpture based on a photo I took of her the day we brought her home.

3" x 2" x .75" Unlimited Edition, © 2014,  $75

I created this sweet kitten with her toy mouse during the few months that we were “catless”.  Interestingly, when we did get our new kitten, she played with a large stuffed “rat” toy just like this, lying on her back and kicking at the toy with her feet.

4" x 2" x .5" Unlimited Edition, ©2013, $75

We learned with our first cats that there was no point in buying them Christmas or birthday presents since they much preferred to play with the wrappings and boxes! Jasmine, in particular, would climb into any box, any time of year, no matter how large or small. I based this ornament on a photo I have of her in (or should I say “on”) a box that was only large enough to accommodate her legs and paws. I have since seen evidence that this is normal feline behavior!

Cat Ornament IV

3" x 2.5" x 5" Unlimited Edition, ©2012, $75

I call it an ornament as it is set up to hang, but most people don't put it away after Christmas. It hangs in a window or pass-through or on the indoor Ficus tree.

Cat Ornament III

1.5" x 4" x .5" Unlimited edition, ©2008, $75

This is the third in my series of Cat ornaments which are all set up to hang but definitely not limited to appearing once a year at Christmas. I prefer, as do most that have this sweet little creature, to keep it around to make me smile often.

Cat Ornament II

5.5" x 1.5" x .5" Unlimited edition, ©2006, $75

I call this an ornament because it can hang by its tail on a tree branch or a nail in the wall, but it's also very much at home sleeping on a counter top or computer, keeping its owner company, silently and contentedly.

I call it an ornament as it is set up to hang, but most people don't put it away after Christmas. It hangs in a window or pass-through or sits on the corner of a door frame.
